The People's Museum Project
The People’s Museum was an innovative project launched in 2013 as part of an externally funded Arts Council grant. The project ran for two years to develop, pilot and test new models of working and to look at the long term sustainability of Wardown Park Museum with help from Museum Makers. We challenged our local community, to sign up and become Museum Makers and get actively involved. The response we received was overwhelming and over the course of two years we have built up a fantastic network of dedicated and inspiring Museum Makers. From large scale events, community exhibitions, new pilot programmes, to viral videos, view our Happy video, and even breaking a Guinness World Record, Museum Makers have been at the forefront of these great achievements.
As Wardown Park Museum moves into an exciting phase of redevelopment, we are taking all of our learning from The People’s Museum project forward. Museum Makers will once again be at the heart of this exciting journey as we transform Wardown Park Museum into an innovative and creative local museum.
