We are delighted to announce that Wardown House, Museum and Gallery will be officially reopening on Saturday 8th April 2017, from 12pm.
Since closing its doors in March 2016, Wardown has been undergoing a magnificent transformation, as part of a £3.5 million redevelopment. We are excited to share the results of the redevelopment with all of our Museum Makers and visitors.
As well as a glimpse into life in a wealthy Victorian family home, Wardown House, Museum and Gallery will chart the development of Luton and celebrate the stories of the diverse communities the town is home to today. Digital technology and interactives will bring collections to life and enable visitors of all ages to get hands on with their heritage. The new displays will showcase more of the museum’s diverse and exciting collections. New facilities including improved access throughout the building and new café, The Dining Room will offer the perfect setting for a relaxing afternoon.
The redevelopment has been generously funded, with the Heritage Lottery Fund contributing £1.8m. other trusts funding £1.6m and the remaining amount raised by fundraising and public donations.
The museum will reopen on Saturday 8th April from 12pm. We look forward to welcoming visitors back to Wardown.
